Sony Electronics continues to expand its range of outdoor security applications with two new infrared (IR) bullet cameras, the SNC-EB632R and SNC-EB602R.

Both IPELA ENGINE EX IP cameras come equipped with Sony’s Exmor® CMOS sensors for exceptional light sensitivity performance, and also feature Sony’s unique Wide Dynamic View-DR technology working together with built-in IR illuminators to capture objects clearly even under severe backlight or highlight conditions, and in very dark conditions as well. The Advanced IR Technology is also able to deliver clear B/W images of close and distant objects without overexposure.

For color images, the 1080p SNC-EB632R camera can produce color video with a minimum illumination of 0.1 lux at 50 IRE. The SNC-EB602R is a 720p camera which can produce color video with a minimum illumination of 0.05 lux at 50 IRE. At 50 IRE, the SNC-EB602R supports IR illumination up to25 meters (82 feet), while the SNC-EB632R supports IR illumination up to 30 meters (98 feet).

True to its outdoor surveillance purpose, both cameras are IP66 rated to be water-proof and dust-tight, have adjustable sunshade to prevent lens flare effect, and are built to withstand extreme temperatures of -30 to 50 C. Both cameras have also been fitted with image stabilisation technology to minimize unnecessary camera shake from ambient vibrations, and deliver smooth images.

“External conditions such as lighting and weather have always posed the biggest challenge for security institutions to overcome” said Mr. Riki Nishimura, General Manager of Visual Security Solutions, Professional Solutions Company (PSAP) at Sony Electronics Asia Pacific. “Which is why we have packed a host of class leading technologies into the SNC-EB632R and SNC-EB602R, to provide high-quality images regardless of the external conditions in and around the security area” he added.

In addition, both IP cameras feature Sony’s IPELA ENGINE EX signal processing system, including:

  • View-DR technology that enables wide dynamic range capabilities up to 130dB in HD
  • XDNR noise reduction technology that generates clearer images in low light
  • DEPA Advanced technology that incorporates video analytic capabilities at the camera level
  • High Frame Rate of 30 frames per second to capture smoother, more detailed video that is easier to analyze frame by frame

The SNC-EB632R and SNC-EB602R will be supported by major VMS providers, including Aimetis Corp., DVTEL, INC., Envysion, Exacq Technologies, Genetec Inc., Milestone Systems, OnSSI, Salient Systems and Video Insight Inc.
