Interface Systems has announced that it is enhancing its alarm monitoring capabilities by integrating JamAlert™, a sophisticated cellular jammer detection device from Digital Monitoring Products (DMP), with its existing TamperShield™ service.
This integration aims to prevent break-ins by detecting attempts to block alarm system communications through cellular interference.
Combatting Cellular Jamming and Break-In Attempts
The use of portable cellular jammers by criminals, particularly those targeting high-value locations such as jewelry stores, financial institutions, and museums, is becoming increasingly prevalent.
JamAlert is designed to address this threat by monitoring cellular frequencies typically used by alarm systems, quickly identifying any abnormal signal interference. Upon detecting jamming activity, an alarm is triggered, providing an immediate alert of potential security threats.
Layered Security Through TamperShield Integration
JamAlert is compatible with both DMP and Honeywell intrusion systemsWhen combined with Interface's TamperShield service, which monitors communication from the alarm panel at the Interactive Security Operations Center (iSOC), the system offers comprehensive security features.
These include early detection of cellular jamming at the site level, continuous panel connectivity checks at iSOC, live video verification of suspicious activities, and rapid response protocols such as staff notification and law enforcement dispatch when a credible threat is verified.
Advancing Proactive Security Measures
Steve Womer, SVP of Product at Interface Systems, emphasized the proactive nature of this approach, stating, "TamperShield with JamAlert provides early visibility into sophisticated break-in attempts. Instead of discovering interference after a break-in, we can identify a jamming attempt as it begins, verify activity through video monitoring, and respond quickly. This proactive approach helps deter crime and reduce loss."
Compatibility and Infrastructure Benefits
JamAlert is compatible with both DMP and Honeywell intrusion systems, which allows businesses to upgrade their security measures without requiring an overhaul of their current infrastructure.
This compatibility ensures that companies can bolster their defenses against criminal activities effectively and efficiently.
