Genetec Inc. has deployed its Security Center software to enhance safety at the World of Volvo, a 22,000 square meter brand experience center in Gothenburg, Sweden.
This venue, a collaboration between Volvo Group and Volvo Cars, hosts a variety of exhibitions focusing on Volvo's past, present, and future vehicles, as well as external events. More than 2,500 visitors frequent the center each day. Reflecting Volvo's commitment to safety, the implementation aims to ensure a secure and well-managed setting for all attendees.
Advanced Surveillance Technology
The security framework of the facility utilizes more than 100 i-PRO cameras, including PTZ, fisheye, and multi-sensor types. These cameras are operated through Genetec Security Center from a central control room managed by security personnel.

Swedish systems integrator Granitor led the coordination of this project. Ulf Hermansson, Facility & Security Manager at World of Volvo, noted, "With Security Center, it’s easy to see what’s happening and make quick decisions on how to respond. The platform’s usability is great; we were up and running in half a day." This ease of use is essential for the external security guards stationed at the central control room.
Integrated Security Solutions
Beyond the main exhibition venue, Genetec Security Center has been extended to a Volvo warehouse location, enabling coordinated security management through its Federation feature. This allows staff to perform alarm verification and control entry gates from the same control room overseeing the experience center. Both sites leverage Genetec Streamvault, a line of security infrastructure appliances pre-loaded with Security Center software, facilitating a streamlined, pre-hardened security setup.
Hermansson emphasized the alignment of Genetec's solutions with Volvo's safety ethos, stating, "Safe technology is in Volvo's DNA. The quality and features of Genetec Security Center match our safety standards, using intelligent technology. It ensures that our visitors feel as safe in our building as they would in a Volvo."
