Palestine Community Unit School District #3 in Illinois has implemented ZeroEyes' advanced AI gun detection and situational awareness technology to enhance the safety of its students, staff, and visitors.

ZeroEyes is renowned for developing a video analytics platform recognized by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security with SAFETY Act Designation, aimed at deterring gun-related incidents.

Commitment to a Safe Educational Environment

Located in the community of Palestine, Illinois, the district caters to students from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade. It emphasizes creating a nurturing educational setting, working closely with local families and community partners to ensure students are prepared for future success.

In line with these values, the district’s leadership collaborated with ZeroEyes to evaluate and integrate the AI software, providing an innovative enhancement to their existing security measures.

Superintendent Jessica Sisil stated, "The safety of our students and staff is our highest priority. ZeroEyes was willing to work with us to implement a solution that enhances our safety efforts while remaining mindful of our resources. This partnership is an important step forward in protecting our school community."

Innovative AI Gun Detection System

Once a firearm is detected, images are rapidly transmitted to the ZeroEyes Operations Center (ZOC)

The AI gun detection software by ZeroEyes operates by utilizing existing digital security cameras to identify visible firearms. Once a firearm is detected, images are rapidly transmitted to the ZeroEyes Operations Center (ZOC), the only fully in-house U.S. operation center staffed continuously by U.S. military and law enforcement veterans.

Upon verification of a threat by these experts, immediate alerts and intelligence, including visual description, gun type, and last known location, are communicated to law enforcement and school security teams within a timeframe as quick as 3 to 5 seconds.

Leadership in School Safety

ZeroEyes co-founder and CEO, Mike Lahiff, commended the district's proactive approach to safeguarding its campuses, "Palestine CUSD #3 has taken a proactive, tactical approach to campus safety, protecting students and staff while maintaining a welcoming environment. We’re proud to provide technology that mitigates gun-related incidents with speed, accuracy, and integrity."
