During ISC West 2026, i-PRO Americas Inc. revealed the inaugural beneficiaries of its Security Technician Scholarship Program at their booth #26053. This strategic initiative aims to tackle the increasing deficit of skilled technicians in the physical security sector.
The scholarships were awarded to 19 participants from the Las Vegas area, providing each with technical training worth about $4,000. Candidates were recruited through collaborations with technical and vocational programs at the College of Southern Nevada and recommendations from industry professionals. This program is designed to prepare aspiring technicians with essential skills for careers in physical security installation and support.
Hands-On Training for Security Technicians
The scholarship recipients engaged in a comprehensive curriculum combining online courses with a four-day, practical training session in Las Vegas. The training covered the essentials of video technology, access control, and IP networking. Participants gained valuable hands-on experience with configuring i-PRO cameras, AI analytics, and video management software.
"The security industry is facing a technician shortage as the workforce retires, and many integrators don’t have the time or resources to train new hires from the ground up," stated Adrian Voorkamp, Director of Learning at i-PRO Americas. "This program was created to help bridge that gap. We’re giving new technicians the foundational skills needed before they even step onto a job site, helping integrators shorten onboarding."
Connecting with the Security Industry
Beyond training, i-PRO extended invitations to the scholarship recipients to attend ISC West.
This experience offered an insider view of the security industry and provided opportunities to connect with industry integrators. Such exposure is intended to strengthen the participants' understanding of the security sector and facilitate the beginning of their professional journeys.
