Genetec Inc., recognized for its enterprise-level physical security software, has introduced significant upgrades to its Security Center SaaS platform.
These enhancements are designed to streamline daily operations for security teams while providing organizations with increased adaptability and control during modernization efforts. The updates include improved front desk experiences, quicker access to essential security functions, enhanced intrusion panel support, and the option to integrate biometric capabilities without necessitating disruptive changes to existing infrastructure.
Optional Biometric Capabilities
Francis Lachance, Senior Director of Product at Genetec Inc., emphasized that organizations should not be constrained by outdated infrastructure or forced to make an all-or-nothing decision regarding cloud adoption.
Lachance stated, "Security Center SaaS removes the friction of traditional upgrade cycles while preserving the architectural choice enterprises depend on. We're delivering enterprise grade access control through the cloud in a way that lets organizations scale, adapt, and modernise without disrupting existing systems or compromising control."
Critical Control Point
Screening rules during check-in can verify identity against external databases
In many organizations, the front desk represents a pivotal control point where visitor check-ins and cardholder access are often managed in separate systems. Security Center SaaS integrates these workflows into a unified, cloud-based experience, enabling front desk staff to efficiently manage visitor processing while security teams maintain comprehensive oversight.
Scheduled and walk-in visits are handled from a single interface, and access policies guide how visitors are allowed entry. Screening rules during check-in can verify identity against external databases, triggering predefined actions, such as alerting security personnel, when a match or exception is found.
Security Policy Enforcement
This streamlined approach is particularly beneficial in environments like schools, healthcare facilities, and corporate offices that require consistent visitor control without adding complexity to the front desk operations.
By separating reception tasks from security policy execution, organizations can minimize manual procedures, enhance situational awareness, and ensure consistent visitor access management across multiple locations.
Broader Intrusion Support
The upgraded front desk features are currently accessible to all Security Center SaaS users
Security Center SaaS upgrades aim to modernize operations without enforcing a "rip and replace" strategy. The open architecture, along with Genetec Cloudlink appliances, allows integration of existing access control and intrusion hardware into the cloud, letting organizations control their pace of modernization.
The Genetec ecosystem now includes broader intrusion panel support, including Radionix (formerly Bosch) and Honeywell, with DMP support expected by June 2026. Additionally, a new SAFR SCAN integration delivers a high-assurance facial authentication option, improving security and reducing reliance on physical credentials like cards or badges.
The upgraded front desk features are currently accessible to all Security Center SaaS users, while the expanded intrusion support for Honeywell Galaxy panels is already available. The SAFR biometrics integration and DMP support are scheduled for release by June 2026. Genetec plans to showcase the latest Security Center SaaS version at the ISC West event at booth 13062.
