Siemens Solaris Speed Dome Cameras - Reliable And Accurate

Product Profile

Today most of the major security manufacturers have a functional dome within their portfolio. Whatever your preference they are all pretty much the same. Different sizes, different colours, different camera modules, different zoom lenses or special software features. But there is one dome that is absolutely and unashamedly unique and for very good reasons. In fact, once you understand the concept, you'll be astonished that no other domes are made this way. The secret is in the design.

The high-speed Solaris dome from Siemens is comprised of two parts:

  • The dome house/camera head mechanism
  • An XTU - External Terminal Unit - (which could easily be mistaken for the power supply)

All connections and settings are made in the XTU, not inside the dome housing. Keeping these separate and accessible has huge benefits in service, installation, tracing cable faults and commissioning. It also gives the equipment designers freedom to produce a better design, for example, inclusion of an LCD screen, freeing up space inside the dome, making it less crammed.

Solaris says ‘no' to competition

With a factory sealed dome, there is no reason to open the unit. No camera module to install, no condensation issues, no dispswitches to set up and nothing to get wrong. Just connect the single cable to the external connector and bolt the dome to the wall or column. We even say no to making the bracket waterproof. The XTU can be mounted as standard 30m from the dome or up to 300m with a separate PSU. This means all cabling and commissioning can be done in a dry, comfortable and convenient location. Should our system ever develop a fault, you can configure and test every function from the XTU, avoiding the ‘inconvenience' of hiring a cherry picker to inspect the dome head. Solaris: quick, easy, convenient and it works!

All terminations are made in the XTU. This is a conveniently sized box which includes the power supply and a video test monitor with OSD. All setup and programming, even dome control, can be achieved using the built-in screen and menu.

Set-up

Whether at the base of a tower or in a riser, your engineers will appreciate this accessible functionality, flexibility and easy, time saving set-up. Compatible with most major protocols and fully featured, why pay more for less and use another dome system?

Are all domes equal? Only in Solaris World! As every dome follows the same basic principles, other than the three camera-lens options, they are all external and all mountable on a wall, tower, ceiling tile, soffit or pendant. There are no difficult options to configure, just choose a mounting bracket and fit. Engineers can keep a spare unit on their vans and it will be compatible with your installation.
