SEC Provides Scholarships To University Partners For The Next Generation Of Security Leaders

The Security Executive Council (SEC) will continue its work of preparing the next generation of security leaders by offering up to $7,500 in scholarships to qualifying students enrolled in specific academic programs of study starting the 2022-2023 academic year.

Scholarships in security, risk, and intelligence

Fostering continuing education and excellence in the security field has long been a focus of the SEC. This new scholarship program builds upon existing partnerships with three institutions recognized for excellent programs in security, risk, and intelligence.

The scholarships will be awarded to students from the following academic programs:

• Kennesaw State University Coles College of Business’ Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in Information Security and Assurance
• University of South Carolina – Darla Moore College of Business’ Bachelor of Science in Risk Management and Insurance
• Mercyhurst University’s Bachelor of Science in Data Science, Bachelor of Arts in Intelligence Studies, or Bachelor of Science in Cyber Security

Scholarship to meet security needs

“The Risk and Uncertainty Management Centre at the Moore School is very appreciative of our relationship with the SEC and the generosity of the SEC in setting up this scholarship for our students,” said Robert Hartwig, Director, Risk and Uncertainty Management (RUM) Centre, Darla Moore College of Business. “The SEC’s support will help assure that the growing security and risk management needs of corporations across the globe can be met in these challenging times.”

Scholarship criteria

Scholarship awards will be made by the universities’ criteria and SEC input regarding security leadership potential. The SEC Scholarship Committee is made up of SEC staff, successful former security executives, and current security practitioners from well-known corporations, as well as university faculty. Applications must be completed by March 1, 2022, and will be awarded to selected students by June 1, 2022.
