Proximus Global, a digital communications enterprise, in collaboration with India's Aakash Educational Services Limited, has initiated the use of silent verification across India, leveraging the Konera API Platform.
This development aims to enhance the student onboarding process by conducting verifications directly through mobile networks, thus modernizing authentication procedures and ensuring a more reliable and secure user experience at scale.
Enhancements in student Verification
This novel verification method eliminates the need for SMS-based One Time Passcodes (OTPs), which are often hindered by network coverage issues and delivery delays, leading to increased dropout rates.
By verifying identities via mobile networks, Proximus Global provides Aakash Educational Services Ltd with the tools to streamline student registration, irrespective of device, network operator, or geographic location.
Educational Opportunities through Digital Access
In India's education sector, digital platforms now account for 62% of student enrollments, highlighting the importance of online channels. Traditional OTP methods face challenges, with a failure rate of 2-3%, especially affecting students in remote regions.
Silent verification overcomes this limitation by authenticating users directly within the network's backend, without requiring SMS or user interaction.

The Konera API platform offers a standardized interface for secure, operator-driven mobile capabilitiesIndia is renowned for its supplementary coaching culture, with approximately one-third of students engaging in private classes outside school hours. Although urban students participate more in these programs, initiatives by organizations like Aakash Educational Services Ltd—through digital platforms and scholarship opportunities—strive to bridge this gap.
