As an industry leader, ASSA ABLOY has also launched a campaign to bust common myths and misconceptions about wireless locks
The most requested ASSA ABLOY products at Intersec were wireless technologies SMARTair™ and Aperio®. SMARTair™

Successful involvement at Intersec 2015 saw ASSA ABLOY further expand its profile in the fast-growing Middle East market. ASSA ABLOY demonstrated key wireless access products and shared its own market research with attendees. Key sales trends for 2015 include the rise of IP-enabled wireless devices, as well as increasing interest in open standards and integrated solutions for access control systems.

Among the most requested ASSA ABLOY products at Intersec 2015 were wireless technologies SMARTair™ and Aperio®. SMARTair™ is an affordable, out-the-box wireless access control system suited to small and medium-sized premises. ASSA ABLOY’s Aperio® product line allows OEMs to incorporate cutting-edge wireless access control seamlessly with all kinds of building systems, covering security, energy management and beyond.

Intersec attendees saw the evidence for themselves. Aperio® demonstrations ran on the ASSA ABLOY stand and elsewhere in the halls, including a live integration with Honeywell’s Pro-Watch® security management suite.

In the aftermath of Intersec, ASSA ABLOY expects long-term growth in the Middle East region. Estimates suggest the market for access control systems in the Middle East and Africa is set to grow at 15 per cent annually, reaching US$500 million by 2018*. ASSA ABLOY’s own market data predicts strong demand for battery-powered locks such as SMARTair™ and Aperio®, and for wireless access control systems in general.

As an industry leader, ASSA ABLOY has also launched a campaign to bust common myths and misconceptions about wireless locks. Research conducted in 2014 by ASSA ABLOY and IFSEC Global uncovered the most common misgivings about upgrading to wireless access control: the concern that any switch would be disruptive to current systems, and fear of the expense.

In fact, wireless products such as Aperio® integrate seamlessly with installed wired access control systems, allowing companies to secure many more doors at a site without breaking the bank. And a recent ASSA ABLOY study of energy costs** suggests that, for a typical 1,000-door accommodation block, organizations could save as much as US$14,000 every year on maintenance and energy costs alone by switching to wireless access control.
