The Summit focuses baseline of information security measures and controls to improve cyber defense |
The SANS Institute will be hosting the Critical Security Controls International Summit in London from May 1st to May 2nd at the London Hilton on Park Lane hotel. The Summit focuses on the Critical Security Controls that the British government's Center for the Protection of National Infrastructure describes as the "baseline of high-priority information security measures and controls that can be applied across an organization in order to improve its cyber defense."
Many Government Agencies, companies of all sizes and non-profit institutions have reached similar conclusions and are actively implementing the Critical Security Controls as an essential element of their cyber defense. This Summit provides an extraordinary chance to learn about the "big picture" of the Critical Security Controls as well as detailed information about implementation through the direct experience of pioneering organizations. The Summit also includes a session on the Consortium for Cybersecurity Action, a virtual community of countless Agencies, companies, and individuals that now leads the development and evolution of the Critical Security Controls. The CCA is also developing a support ecosystem of use cases, working aids, mappings, and tools to help others adopt and implement the Critical Security Controls.
Ahead of the Summit, SANS will offer a five day course on Implementing and Auditing the Twenty Critical Security Controls to help practitioners learn in much greater detail the issues and opportunities in implementation of the Controls. This course will be taught by its co-author Dr. Eric Cole, an industry-recognized security expert with over 20 years of hands-on experience. The course is designed to help those implementing or deploying a strategy for information assurance in their agency or organization by enabling them to better understand these guidelines.
