ADT customised solution enables to import existing 10 000+ staff card holders from previous system directly into the new AC2000 system

ADT Fire & Security, the UK’s leading provider of electronic fire and security solutions, recently announced its selection as the security provider for the new Aberdeen Emergency Care Center. ADT won the competitive tender with a CEM AC2000 integrated access control, security management system (SMS); custom designed to secure the 400 doors throughout the premises.

The new Aberdeen Emergency Care Center has replaced 40% of the beds at the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, and combines all the services required to give emergency care under one roof. In an environment where efficiency, co-ordination and reliability can mean life or death, the care center required a security solutions provider that understood the center’s specific needs and offered a cost-effective solution to address these requirements.

“Protecting patients, staff and property requires that hospitals and care centers prioritize and implement the right security solution. When selecting a security management system, reliability, scalability and cost-efficiency are all vital considerations”, said Paul Paton, Senior Security Director, NHS Gampian. “ADT offered a customized solution which enabled us to import our existing 10 000+ staff card holders from our previous system directly into the new AC2000 system. This seamless transition saved both time and money in the present, whilst future proofing our system for the years ahead.”

Having worked with the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary in the past, ADT understood the challenges of installing and managing an access control system in an emergency care environment. The AC2000 SE (Standard Edition) system, designed by CEM, was customized to enable seamless migration from the legacy system to the new AC2000 system; right down to the access cards. This meant no downtime during installation and no additional expenditure on new staff cards.

In addition, the AC2000 system integrated fully into the care center’s other CCTV, intruder detection and intelligent lift control systems. Acting as the SMS, the AC2000 video interface can associate access control alarms with Matrivideo digital video clips, enabling visibility of live camera footage via the AC2000 AED (Alarm Event Display) application. AC2000 AED allows security personnel to view all alarms, events and associated camera footage centrally on the AC2000 system.

“The growing security demands faced by public sector organizations are calling for the re-evaluation of older stand-alone systems and the deployment of updated technologies.” said Ian Hodgson, Regional Managing Director for ADT. “Through our extensive experience of the security solutions in healthcare, we understood that a scalable and reliable solution was key. Designed specifically for Aberdeen Emergency Care Center by CEM Systems, our system offered full integration and back up support meaning that the care center would have all the benefits of a fully integrated and scalable system without additional costs.”
