TSS combines the company’s PatrolVu mobile digital CCTV recording system with hidden cameras
Traffic Safety Systems has unveiled a new range of covert in-vehicle mobile CCTV solutions
TSS (Traffic Safety Systems) - part of AD Group - has unveiled a new range of covert in-vehicle mobile CCTV solutions.

Designed to be deployed in key law enforcement scenarios, where unobtrusive intelligence and evidence gathering is a key consideration, the latest covert surveillance solutions from TSS are targeted specifically at the police, security services and local authorities.

The new covert options, delivered by TSS, combine the company's PatrolVu mobile digital CCTV recording system with hidden cameras in key areas such as a vehicle's wing mirrors, number plates and even roof vents. There is also the potential, if required, to have a mast camera fitted which can be deployed for greater situational awareness and, when not in use, readily concealed inside the roof of a vehicle.

Operators of some larger vehicles, such as vans, may specify a built-in control room. This can be appropriately shielded and disguised from external view. In other cases a much simpler configuration may be adopted, with the CCTV solution set-up to record but without a requirement for in-vehicle playback. TSS is seeing more and more of its customers opting not to have a monitor actually in the vehicle (as this is not necessarily ideal for covert surveillance) and instead adopting a wireless 3G GPRS connection back to a control room or a command vehicle where the surveillance footage can be viewed.

Scenarios where, rapidly deployable, covert CCTV monitoring from a TSS equipped vehicle is likely to be employed include: counter terrorism to keep track of suspects; the gathering of police intelligence on drug dealers; the monitoring of fraudulent social security claims by government agencies and by local authorities to clamp down on large-scale fly tipping.

Said Ron Coleman, Marketing Director at TSS: "The launch of our enhanced covert capabilities demonstrates to prospective customers that we can deliver a comprehensive range of mobile CCTV options - integrating PatrolVu technology - tailored to their requirements which go beyond more usual high visibility surveillance solutions."
