CCTV specialist AD Group announces that its subsidiary AD Aerospace - which delivers video surveillance solutions for aircraft - has been selected as a finalist in The 2008 National Business Awards, sponsored by Orange.

Shortlisted in the highly competitive IMechE Business Innovation of the Year category, it was AD Aerospace's FlightVu product range - designed to address safety and security concerns of aircraft manufacturers and operators - that really caught the eye of the first round judges.

In association with the Daily Telegraph newspaper, The National Business Awards is fast becoming the most sought-after endorsement of corporate achievement in the UK, and aims to reward and recognize excellence, best practice and innovation throughout the business community.

Mike Faulkner, Group Director of the National Business Awards said, "While every category in our Awards programme is important, the Business Innovation of the Year, where AD Aerospace has been selected as a finalist, is certainly a key one.  The ability to innovate in business is undoubtedly a vital element in the quest for a competitive edge."

Commented Mike Horne, Managing Director, AD Aerospace:  "It is gratifying to be in contention for such a prestigious award.  Today our FlightVu video solutions play a leading role protecting commercial airliners, their crew and passengers, against key challenges in the air and on the ground including, since 9/11, the threat of terrorist attack."

A typical FlightVu application has a series of cameras linked directly to a display on the flightdeck, enabling the pilots to visually check the identity of someone who has requested entry to the cockpit.  This means they can confirm that the person outside is a known member of the cabin crew and that they are not acting under duress before they unlock the cockpit door.  Such systems from AD Aerospace are now fitted to a growing number of airlines worldwide including easyJet, Thomsonfly, JetBlue and Air Asia.

Said Nigel Petrie, Chairman of AD Group: "I am delighted to see, once again, an AD Group company's industry-leading AD Aerospace are a finalist of the 2008 National Business Awardsapproach being recognized by The National Business Awards and wish AD Aerospace every success as they move on to the final stage of the judging process."

The final results of The National Business Awards will be announced on 18 November 2008 at a glittering Awards Evening held at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London and hosted by respected BBC journalist and presenter Andrew Marr.
