ZeroEyes, known for its advancements in artificial intelligence-based gun detection, has introduced its sophisticated situational awareness platform to the Ramapo Indian Hills Regional High School District in New Jersey.
The technology is designed to bolster security measures for both students and staff against potential gun-related incidents. This deployment covers the district's two public high schools, Indian Hills High School and Ramapo High School, which collectively serve about 1,800 students and 350 staff members from Franklin Lakes, Oakland, and Wyckoff areas in Bergen County.
Enhanced Security Strategy
The implementation of ZeroEyes technology aligns with the district’s comprehensive security strategy, which already includes a school resource officer, a modernized public address system, upgraded camera systems, and strobelight alerts. Charlie Wolff, the District Security Coordinator and School Safety Specialist, emphasized the district's proactive stance on school safety.
"Our leadership team, in collaboration with our Board of Education, is constantly exploring new approaches and ideas to stay ahead of potential security issues and enable the best possible response to a school-based threat,” Wolff stated. He noted that the partnership with ZeroEyes significantly enhances the district's video surveillance capabilities, with the overarching aim to maintain a secure learning environment for all students.
Advanced Threat Detection
The ZeroEyes platform integrates seamlessly with existing security cameras to provide real-time gun detection and situational awareness. Once a firearm is detected by the system, images are transmitted immediately to the ZeroEyes Operations Center (ZOC), which is notable for being the only fully in-house operation of its kind in the U.S. Staffed around the clock by veterans from the military and law enforcement, the center rapidly assesses the threat's validity.
If confirmed, alerts containing critical information such as a visual description, gun type, and the last known location are dispatched to law enforcement and school security teams within 3 to 5 seconds of detection.
