Skills for Security is spotlighting the critical role of structured training and apprenticeships within the fire and security sectors at The Security Event. Located at stand 4/P10, the organization aims to engage installers across the UK with a football-themed setup, celebrating the World Cup.
This initiative underscores the value of upskilling teams and integrating apprentices to strengthen workforces.
Addressing Future Workforce Needs
A highlight of the event is the National Qualifiers of the WorldSkills UK Electronic Fire and Security Competition. Skills for Security will facilitate this competition, which is expected to feature 30 apprentices showcasing their capabilities. Participants will be assessed on practical skills and industry knowledge spanning fire systems, intrusion detection, and access control, reflecting essential competencies for new entrants in the sector.
David Scott, Managing Director of Skills for Security, stated, “The Security Event is a key date in our diary, allowing us to bring skills and apprenticeships into a very visible space. In a bid to promote diversity in the industry, Skills for Security has introduced the competition's first female judge, hailing from SSAIB, to inspire more female apprentices to participate. This move is part of a broader strategy to challenge traditional stereotypes and advocate for inclusive career pathways within the sector.
David Scott further added, “Everything we are doing at The Security Event and beyond is about strengthening the future of the industry. By investing in apprentices, promoting diversity, and working closely with our partners, we are helping to build a skilled and confident workforce that the fire and security sectors can rely on for years to come.”
