The Security Industry Association (SIA) has appointed Amanda Garzon as its Chief Operating Officer (COO).
In her new role, Garzon is responsible for managing the association's strategic execution and overseeing daily operations to align internal functions with the delivery of SIA's ongoing programs and initiatives. She brings extensive experience, having worked in both for-profit and nonprofit sectors.
A Broad Background in Management
Prior to joining SIA, Garzon held the position of COO at the Hydrocephalus Association, where she facilitated organizational growth and expanded programs nationwide.
Her initiatives supported a network of stakeholders that included patients, caregivers, clinicians, researchers, and industry partners. Among her achievements, Garzon led the development of HydroAssist, a mobile application designed to aid in managing hydrocephalus treatment.
Recognized Leadership and Contributions
Prior to joining SIA, Garzon held the position of COO at the Hydrocephalus Association
Garzon's leadership has been acknowledged with the establishment of the Amanda Garzon Visionary Leadership Award by the Hydrocephalus Association.
This award is given annually in her honor. Additionally, she was recognized as one of the Top 20 Advocacy Professionals by the Advocacy Association in 2025 and is a member of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute Alumni Association. Her academic background includes serving as a Woodrow Wilson School Graduate Fellow at Princeton University.
Impact on SIA's Global Influence
SIA CEO Don Erickson noted Garzon's addition to the team by stating, “With Amanda joining our already exceptional team, SIA is poised to deliver additional value to our members and become engaged in new areas that will further SIA’s influence within the industry globally. The SIA has recently strengthened its team with the addition of Briana Jeter as Senior Manager of Marketing and Events, Courtney Kay as Manager of Industry Relations, and Nicholas Matzerath as Coordinator of Member Services. The SIA staff remains committed to supporting its members and the organization's initiatives.
