Originally hailing from South Africa, Furby recently moved to the UK. Outside of his IT career, he is known for his enthusiasm for the Springboks and motorsport, an interest he shares with Secure Logiq's Joint Managing Director, Hamish Johnson. Notably, Furby has made significant contributions to motorsport, particularly in the transformation of Motorsport South Africa's timing and results infrastructure.
Contributions to Motorsport
In 1994, Furby was pivotal in the shift from manual stopwatch timing to an RFID-based system, significantly modernizing race operations across South Africa. His expertise in managing national motorsport results systems extended into the early 2000s, with his role evolving to race director, overseeing numerous National Series events. "It was great fun," Furby stated, recalling his experiences, I even had the opportunity to race a few events myself."
In addition to his efforts in South Africa, he played a role in developing motorsport control in Zimbabwe up until 2019, allowing him to travel and connect with diverse communities.
