Evolv Technology, a security technology firm specializing in AI-driven weapons detection, has announced a comprehensive community relations program with the Pittsburgh Pirates.
This initiative is part of Evolv's role as the Official Screening Partner for the team, solidifying its connection with various organizations within the Pittsburgh community, including the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust, Acrisure Stadium, the home of the Pittsburgh Steelers, and PNC Park.
Educational and Community Focused Initiatives
A key aspect of the collaboration between Evolv and the Pirates is the First Pitch experience. This allows representatives from local community groups to participate in a pre-game first pitch event at a Pirates home match. For the 2024 season, Evolv has facilitated this opportunity for three organizations, enhancing their visibility and community engagement.
The Pittsburgh Promise, an organization headquartered in downtown Pittsburgh, promotes educational success among urban youth and offers scholarships for further education. Founded by local sports icon Franco Harris, the organization shares Evolv's vision that ensuring safety in schools enhances the learning environment.

Located in East Liberty, this organization is dedicated to youth mentorship in the community
A Kid Again, a national charity with a chapter in Pittsburgh, provides free events for families who have a child facing critical health challenges. These families often deal with long hospital stays, making security an important aspect of their experiences.
Additionally, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Pittsburgh serves the region by pairing mentors with young people in need of guidance. Located in East Liberty, this organization is dedicated to youth mentorship in the community.

Each season, Evolv donates numerous Pirates game tickets to community organizations, schools, and hospitals in the Pittsburgh area, offering the community opportunities for enjoyable and memorable engagements.

Fostering educational achievement
One joint initiative of the Evolv and Pirates community effort focuses on the team’s First Pitch experience, in which a representative of a Pittsburgh-area community organization has the honor of throwing out the first pitch before the start of a Pirates home game. For 2024, Evolv has enabled three such organizations to have this unique experience and opportunity for enhanced visibility:

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Pittsburgh, based in the city’s East Liberty neighborhood, is the region’s youth mentoring organization, matching children who seek a mentor with caring adults.
