Bosch Security Escort is a wireless help-call system that allows operators to locate people in distress

Home Harbor is an assisted living community of large efficiencies, one and two-bedroom apartments that are complete with full kitchens, private entries, patios and spacious common areas. The facility is designed for seniors who are aged 62 and older and offers a range of care options to give residents choice and flexibility. The organization's desire is to protect and encourage its residents' independence and well-being. The facility includes 110 apartments spread over an entire city block in Racine, Wisconsin.

Business Objective:

When the Home Harbor facility was built, the organization desired a system that would help assure the safety of residents anywhere inside the expansive building. Requiring a more sophisticated system than a mere pull cord by the residents' beds, the organization sought the ability to locate and respond to any resident in distress, whether that person is in the dining room, the library, the town square, the beauty salon, or in his or her private apartment.

Solution:

Home Harbor uses the Bosch Security Escort system to provide its residents and their family members with peace of mind. Security Escort is a wireless help-call system that allows operators to locate people in distress throughout the system's area.

The majority of the residents of Home Harbor wear a help call transmitter that is convenient and comfortable to have on during any activity. If a resident is in distress and needs staff assistance, he or she can simply press the button on the transmitter and an alert is instantly displayed on three different staff stations throughout the facility - in the front, middle and back of the building. The alerts display the name of the resident, the resident's apartment number as well as his or her current location within the facility. Security Escort features a customizable graphic display, so the location of an alert is displayed on a footprint map of the Home Harbor facility.

If no staff members are present at the station at the time of an alert, a notice is automatically sent to pagers worn by the staff - ensuring that residents always receive immediate assistance.

Result:

"Security Escort is a great selling feature for prospective residents," said Julie Larsen, billing manager for Home Harbor. "We explain how residents wear the button, and wherever they are, we can get to them to provide assistance. It allows our residents to be independent but to know that help is nearby if something happens."

"Security Escort also brings a secure feeling to the family members of our residents," continued Larsen.
