In response to the increasing demand for enhanced security in educational institutions across the country, Tuskegee University is taking steps to improve campus safety. This initiative is expected to set a benchmark for on-campus security measures nationwide.

The university will integrate several of Honeywell’s Building Automation solutions to achieve these goals. Key components of the implementation include:

LenelS2’s OnGuard Access Control System

This system will manage all access points throughout the campus, allowing for comprehensive monitoring and control of entry. It will provide security administrators the capability to regulate sensors and door locks, facilitating secure entry to classrooms. The acquisition of LenelS2 in 2024 has expanded Honeywell’s Building Automation portfolio, offering a robust foundation for this upgrade.

Wireless Dorm Locking System

This solution will provide secure and convenient access for students to their dormitories. Utilizing mobile credentials, students can enter their living spaces using their smartphones or smartwatches, eliminating the need for traditional plastic cards. Once inside, students can digitally lock their doors from within for added security.

AI-Enabled Video Monitoring

A network of over 1,500 security cameras will be installed across the campus by early 2026, providing real-time anomaly detection and enhanced situational awareness. This system is designed to facilitate faster response times and improve overall campus safety.
