  • Teledyne FLIR and SYPAQ partner on CorvoX SUAS for advanced military thermal imaging.
  • CorvoX integrates Boson thermal sensor for enhanced reconnaissance and surveillance capabilities.
  • Experience next-gen CorvoX SUAS at Indo Pacific 2025 with innovative VTOL technology.

Teledyne FLIR OEM, part of Teledyne Technologies Incorporated, has unveiled its latest collaboration under the Thermal by FLIR program with SYPAQ Systems, a pioneering Australian drone manufacturer.

The joint effort has produced the CorvoX small unmanned aerial system (SUAS), equipped with the NDAA-compliant and ITAR-free Boson® thermal infrared (IR) camera.

This advanced system is scheduled for delivery to the Australian Army in December 2025 as a part of the Australian Defense Force DEF129 SUAS initiative, focused on supporting dismounted soldier operations.

Delivery of Advanced Technologies

Amanda Holt, CEO and Managing Director of SYPAQ Systems, remarked, “The Thermal by FLIR program represents a natural evolution of our commitment to delivering world-class sovereign defense capabilities globally.”

She emphasized the Boson's integration into the CorvoX platform as a testament to the strategic collaborations among AUKUS nations, namely Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United States, in expediting the development and deployment of cutting-edge technologies to military forces.

Modern Reconnaissance and Surveillance Missions

The CorvoX is specifically developed for dismounted soldier operations, utilizing the Corvo Guarda 70-DN EO/IR payload

The CorvoX is specifically developed for dismounted soldier operations, utilizing the Corvo Guarda 70-DN EO/IR payload. It features a Boson thermal sensor with 640 x 512 resolution, providing exceptional thermal imaging capabilities that can penetrate darkness, smoke, and fog.

This sensor is coupled with an electro-optical (EO) component, housed within a two-axis mechanical system complete with advanced stabilization algorithms to support geo-lock, object detection, and moving target tracking, which are crucial for modern reconnaissance and surveillance activities.

Thermal Infrared Technology

Jared Faraudo, Vice President of Product Management at Teledyne FLIR OEM, stated, “The CorvoX showcases the versatility and performance of our size, weight, and power (SWaP)-optimized Boson thermal sensor in demanding uncrewed applications.”

He acknowledged SYPAQ's focus on sovereign manufacturing and secure supply chains as aligning with Teledyne FLIR’s mission to advance innovative thermal infrared technologies globally.

Next-Generation CorvoX SUAS

CorvoX features an advanced thrust-vectored VTOL design, providing enhanced endurance

The CorvoX features an advanced thrust-vectored vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) design, providing enhanced endurance in challenging weather conditions and withstanding winds of up to 35 miles per hour (mph) or 55 kilometers per hour (km/h).

The system boasts a top speed of 62 mph (100 km/h), weighs below 4.4 pounds (2 kilograms), and has a wingspan of 32.3 inches (82 centimeters), allowing for flight durations of up to 50 minutes.

Designed for easy hand-thrown or ground VTOL launches, the CorvoX is intended to ease the physical and cognitive burden on operators. Its innovative memory structure guards against intelligence leaks during missions, while its onboard AI capabilities continually receive updates.

See the CorvoX at Indo Pacific 2025

SYPAQ plans to exhibit the CorvoX along with the Corvo Guarda 70-DN payload at Indo Pacific 2025 in Sydney, Australia, from November 4-6, 2025.

Interested individuals can visit SYPAQ at the Victorian Government Pavilion No. 3F92 for a firsthand experience of this next-generation technology.
