OPTEX has released a new whitepaper aimed at helping datacentre operators enhance their physical security measures amidst increasing facility size, complexity, and importance.
Titled "Physical security for datacentres: A new era", the document delves into the challenges posed by risks such as unauthorized access, sabotage, and operational disruptions. It provides actionable guidance for improving perimeter defenses, securing restricted areas and server rooms, and boosting the overall resilience of the entire facility.
Advanced Detection Technologies
The whitepaper further highlights the significance of advanced detection technologies, including LiDAR, which aid operators in minimizing false alarms, accurately identifying genuine threats, and swiftly addressing potential incidents.
Mark Cosgrave, Marketing Director of OPTEX EMEA, emphasized the critical nature of this security approach. He stated, "Datacentres are expected to deliver resilient, always-on operations, so physical security needs to be just as robust as the digital defences protecting the data inside. With sites becoming more complex and security teams under pressure to respond quickly and accurately, advanced detection technologies can support a more layered and reliable approach to detection."
