PureTech Systems Inc., a leading manufacturer of video analytic software, recently announced that it has integrated its PureActiv wide area surveillance solution with the MIC Series 550 PTZ camera from Bosch. The integration, performed at PureTech's lab in Phoenix, AZ includes PureTech's PTZ Auto Follow capability and the ability to steer the camera from a map-based user interface.

PTZ Auto Follow on Bosch MIC 550 Series Camera

"Traditionally PTZ cameras are controlled through a joystick or mouse by sending relative pan and tilt commands to the PTZ camera," explains Larry Bowe, President of PureTech Systems. "This method is susceptible to overshooting the area of interest due to the lag in visual feedback. In addition to relative commands, our PureActiv application uses absolute position commands to allow security operators to steer the camera to the precise intended location by simply clicking on the map or drawing a rectangle on the area of interest on the video image."

Also included in this integration is PureTech's PTZ Auto Follow feature, whereby the MIC Series PTZ camera from Bosch can follow a target automatically without any user interaction. Coupling PureTech's absolute positioning capability with its geospatial aware video analytics enables the system to automatically steer PTZ cameras to the location of an intrusion detected by various PSIM sensors such as a radar, intelligent fence or fixed camera and then invoke the PTZ Auto Follow function. This ability to automatically follow the intruding target with PTZ cameras is intended to free up security personnel to focus on coordinating a response.

"The MIC series 550 camera features a high speed pan-tilt-zoom and a full 360 degree field of view. Combining this camera performance with the ability to track an intruder without user intervention is a very powerful capability, and the type of value we at Bosch strive to provide our customers," explains Willem Ryan, Senior Product Marketing Manager at Bosch Security Systems, Inc.

Current PureActiv customers now have the ability to add the Bosch MIC Series 550 camera and these added control features to their perimeter protection suite. Facilities currently utilising Bosch's camera with another video management or NVR system can augment their systems with the PTZ Auto Follow capability through the use of an add-on server or edge device.
