City Of Vancouver Utilizes Proxim For Wireless Video Surveillance At 2010 Winter Olympics

In 2010, Vancouver needed to upgrade its existing video surveillance system, as well as deploy additional cameras to help monitor and secure the millions of visitors for the Winter Olympics and Paralympics. Flexibility was a key requirement for the project since extending the fiber network was not feasible due to cost and time. Proxim's Tsunami radios were selected for the project, thanks to their performance and value-for-money. Together they provided the high-performance wireless connectivity and backhaul needed to extend Vancouver's situational awareness network while staying within budget. Furthermore, the system was flexible enough so that the cameras could be easily relocated  and re-deployed for use after the Olympics were over for other future events in the city.
