Ohio's Heath City School District has enhanced its security measures by integrating ZeroEyes' AI gun detection and intelligent situational awareness platform to combat gun-related threats.
Situated in Licking County, the district oversees the safety of approximately 1,600 students and 250 staff members spread across four educational institutions, including two elementary schools, a middle school, and a high school. This partnership with ZeroEyes is part of the district's comprehensive security strategy, which already includes a range of protective measures such as a widespread camera network, advanced access control technologies, window bullet-resistant film, and door barricades.
Multilayered Security Approach
Heath City School District's Superintendent, Trevor Thomas, Ed.D., emphasized the priority of safety, stating, "Student and staff safety is always our top priority, so we are very interested in solutions that can provide real-time notifications in the event of a potential threat." He further noted that ZeroEyes' technology enhances existing security protocols by offering "immediate, actionable intelligence" to strengthen the district's protective measures.

The ZeroEyes system is designed to integrate with existing digital security cameras. When a firearm is detected, images are sent instantly to the ZeroEyes Operations Center (ZOC), the sole fully in-house U.S.-based facility of its kind. The center operates around the clock, staffed by veterans from the U.S. military and law enforcement, who assess the validity of threats in real-time.
Law Enforcement Coordination
Upon confirming a threat, these trained professionals rapidly disseminate crucial information, such as a visual description, type of firearm, and last known location, to both law enforcement and school administrators. This process is typically completed within seconds of gun detection, allowing for swift action to be taken to mitigate potential danger.
