VITEC has introduced a comprehensive ISR video mission commander solution aimed at streamlining the capture, distribution, and management of video data to meet the evolving demands of contemporary military operations.
This solution integrates VITEC's ultra-low latency encoding technology with the EZ TV video distribution platform, facilitating secure, real-time video delivery across mobile, airborne, and command environments.
Enhancing Mission-Critical Information
In the face of complex operational settings, the primary challenge has shifted from acquiring data to transforming multiple sensor feeds into actionable real-time situational awareness. VITEC's solution enhances this process by enabling secure, ultra-low-latency video distribution throughout the entire mission spectrum.
"In today’s complex operational environments, the challenge is no longer access to data, it is the ability to transform multiple sensor feeds into clear, real-time situational awareness. By enabling secure, ultra-low-latency video distribution across the entire mission chain, VITEC empowers commanders to make faster, more informed decisions when it matters most," stated Ghassan Dadokh, Regional Head of Defense & Security Senior Business Development Manager at VITEC.
Addressing Video Distribution Challenges
Modern military teams utilize a variety of sensors such as drones, unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs)
Modern military teams utilize a variety of sensors such as drones, unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs), fixed cameras, and mobile platforms. These systems generate substantial volumes of ISR video, presenting challenges in effective management.
The presence of siloed systems, inconsistent formats, and latency issues can impede decision-making and slow the flow of mission-critical information. VITEC's solution tackles these issues, offering military organizations a more interoperable, scalable, and secure method for distributing live and mission-relevant video across different command levels.
Optimizing Dynamic Environments
The mission commander setup incorporates VITEC encoders directly within forward-deployed assets, including vehicles, UGVs, and portable ground stations. This allows HD and 4K sensor feeds to be streamed over RF, LTE, or Satcom links into the command and control network.
Through the EZ TV platform, operators at all levels, including dismounted personnel using rugged tablets, can access, manage, and distribute live, archived, and on-demand video using a unified interface. This setup supports a cohesive operational picture, even in environments with limited bandwidth or high dynamism.
Ensuring Compatibility and Security
Supporting standard streaming protocols, MISB and KLV metadata, and AES 256 encryption, the system is compatible with existing command and control (C2) and ISR infrastructures. It also facilitates secure video dissemination across single-site, multi-site, and coalition deployments.
By leveraging hardware-based processing, efficient codecs, and centralized management, VITEC's solution helps reduce operator workload, enhance responsiveness, and maintain a consistent view of critical video sources.
