In an effort to nurture early interest and foundational skills in information technology, SHD has long been a sponsor of the Dresden Student Computing Center (SRZ). This October, SHD furthered its support by donating unused laptops to SRZ, aiding in the creation of a new mobile laptop lab dedicated to technical education.
The Dresden Student Computing Center plans to utilize these laptops to facilitate courses across a range of technological subjects. Among these is the "Robot Control" course, which introduces students to basic programming using the C programming language, empowering them to program LEGO EV3 robots. This hands-on experience is designed to offer practical insights into programming and robotics.
Commitment to Future IT Enthusiasts
Additionally, SRZ offers annual courses titled "Electronics 1" and "Electronics 2", where students explore the design of electronic circuits and the development of printed circuit boards, all under professional supervision. For those interested in advanced computing, the center provides a specialized GPU Programming course. This course focuses on OpenCL, a relatively new standardized programming language designed for developing complex algorithms that leverage the parallel-processing capabilities of modern GPUs.
These newly acquired laptops will help equip SRZ students with the tools needed to delve deeper into the world of IT.
Expressing SHD's dedication to fostering young IT talent, SHD Managing Director Marco Graef stated, “Supporting young people with a passion for IT is very important to us. That's why we've not only supported the student computer centre for many years, but have also been providing training in cooperation with vocational academies and universities for over 20 years.”
