The Portland Trail Blazers and Evolv Technology have formed a new partnership to bolster security at the Moda Center, utilizing AI-powered screening systems.
The venue has introduced five Evolv Express® systems just in time for its busiest season, promising fans a quicker screening process. This advancement aims to reduce time spent in line, allowing attendees to enjoy events more fully.

The Evolv Express system combines advanced sensors with artificial intelligence to distinguish potential threats from common metal items carried by fans. This technology enables attendees to pass through checkpoints more efficiently, minimizing individual stops and contributing to a seamless entry experience at the Moda Center.
The facility, which accommodates roughly 20,000 guests, joins other prominent venues such as the Footprint Center, home to the NBA’s Phoenix Suns, and Houston’s Toyota Center, in adopting this technology following the league's conditional endorsement for weapons detection technology.

With this installation, the Trail Blazers become one of over 40 major professional U.S. sports teams utilizing Evolv Express to enhance fan security. The system screens more than one million people daily, escalating to two million on weekends, across a variety of clients including sports stadiums, theme parks, performing arts centers, schools, hospitals, casinos, and places of worship.

Fans can walk through without always stopping to be checked one by one, helping provide a smooth entry experience.
The Moda Center, which can seat about 20,000 people, follows other venues such as the Footprint Center, home of the NBA’s Phoenix Suns, and the Toyota Center, home arena of the NBA’s Houston Rockets, in quickly forging a partnership with Evolv following the league’s recent conditional approval of technology for weapons detection.
