Sargent And Greenleaf Model 2890B Door Lock GSA-Approved

Sargent and Greenleaf, Inc. (S&G), a division of STANLEY Security, announces the S&G® Model 2890B Pedestrian Door Lock (PDL) – the first lock of its kind in the security industry designed to meet U.S. Federal specification FF-L-2890B, adopted in 2012 – is now the first device in the industry to receive approval from the General Services Administration (GSA) of the U.S. Government for SCIF Locks 2890B, types I, II, III, and IV.

S&G 2890B Pedestrian Door Lock

The S&G Model 2890B PDL incorporates the latest design advances to produce a single-motion egress door lock for the highest level of security, and is the first and only hardware currently in compliance with FF-L-2890B federal specifications and includes a UL 3-Hour Single Door Fire rating. The newly GSA-approved S&G Model 2890B PDL meets both the precise needs of NFPA 101 life-safety and high-security requirements for government applications. The lock is designed for Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) applications for U.S. military, fusion centers, defense contractors and others. S&G currently holds patents on unique design features associated with the device.

GSA Approval

In order for manufacturers to achieve GSA approval, a considerable amount of resources and time is required throughout the application and submission phases. Before an application can even be submitted, the manufacturer must be accepted into a number of highly selective federal government programs, as well as generate an Opens Ratings Report. The Opens Ratings Report is a past-performance evaluation, in which the applicant’s existing customers are contacted and asked to complete an extensive performance review of the manufacturer; these customer reviews are then compiled into an overall performance factor used to evaluate the supplier’s stability and capabilities. Once GSA-approved status has been achieved, the supplier is entered into the official database created to streamline federal government purchasing of commercial products and services.

The Lock Is Available Now For Purchase And Shipment In A Variety Of Styles, Including:

• Type I and Type II: Designed to combine the unparalleled security of an S&G Model 2740B electromechanical combination lock on the outside of a door with a simple, sturdy, ADA-compliant release handle on the inside
• Type III and Type IV: Provide single-motion egress while meeting the highest government security standards. A single push of a built-in panic bar releases the entire locking mechanism to allow for fast, intuitive, safe egress, and is ideal for fire doors.
• Type V and Type VI: Incorporate some of the same, heavy-duty components found in the more sophisticated Types I, II, III and IV units to construct a high-security, auto-escape door locking mechanism.

The Integration

The newly approved S&G Model 2890B PDL offers capabilities to integrate with the S&G Model 2740B electromechanical combination lock, as well as other combination locks approved to federal specification FF-L-2740B. Protected by a robust, five-year warranty, the lock features through-mounting with heavy-duty, adjustable standoffs for a strong, solid mount that cannot cause door collapse, and is fully configurable for left-hand and right-hand metal, wood or composite doors. A heavy-duty, surface-mounted strike with integral roller allows for secure, smooth operation. Pinch-proof strikes are also available for in-swing, out-swing and double door applications.
