The Challenge
One of the UK's leading sportswear retailers, JD Sports, has undertaken a security overhaul of some of their stores as part of a major refurbishment program.
The Solution
JD Sports worked with consultants and installers Integrated Electronic Security (IES) who specified a digitally networked security system based on Dedicated Micros' DS2 multiplexers and Dennard's dome cameras.
AIan Baker at IES says, "With shops on most UK high streets and large stock distribution warehouses in Peterlee and Heywood, comprehensive and reliable security was key." The CCTV system is designed to link in to the client's garment tagging devices. If tagged goods are taken through the security barrier, the in-store alarm is triggered and the digital images stored within the hard disk recorder. These images can then be viewed remotely from the company's Security Remote Monitoring Control Centre.

Our stock appeals to adults and children alike, which also makes it an attractive target for shoplifters." With over 380 stores in the UK, centralizing security operations for the Group brings obvious cost benefits. Integrating CCTV monitoring with our garment tagging system ensures immediate verification, so that we don't compromise on speed of response.
"We are also using the new system to visually verify our intruder and PA alarms and to track stock movement in the goods-in department, where internal pilfering can present a significant problem. The system has been designed so that opening the goods-in doors triggers an alarm which transmits images directly to the security monitoring control room operators. This enables us to watch stock being unloaded and track it as it comes through the door into the warehouse and out again at any time of the day or night."
