Intellian has unveiled its latest advancement in satellite communication technology with the introduction of the new 1.5m Ku to Ka convertible VSAT terminal, the v150NX. This pioneering system is notable for being the world’s first and only 1.5m terminal that supports conversion between Ku and Ka bands, allowing for seamless operation on 2.5GHz Wide Ka-band networks. Additionally, it is compatible with various satellite constellations, including GEO (Geostationary Earth Orbit), MEO (Medium Earth Orbit), and LEO (Low Earth Orbit).
Advanced RF Performance and Versatility
The design of the v150NX ensures high efficiency, offering exceptional radio frequency (RF) performance among the 1.5m systems currently available for ship owners, operators, and network providers. This system can be readily converted to Ka-band by modifying the RF Assembly and Feed, while the reflector and radome are engineered to function across both frequency bands.
Showcasing at the Satellite Show
The Ka-band variant of this terminal, v150NX Ka, is being showcased at the Satellite Show held at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, DC, from May 6-9, 2019. This advanced terminal has demonstrated impressive speeds of up to 830Mbps during trials and offers the ability to track GEO, MEO, and LEO satellites. This capability prepares it for integration with new high-speed and low-latency networks.
Reliability and Broad Compatibility
Both the v150NX and its Ka variant ensure dependable, high-throughput broadband connectivity at sea and can be installed swiftly for precise satellite tracking, functioning as a land gateway antenna system. They can track satellites on both mobile and fixed platforms, featuring smart satellite handover capability facilitated by an integrated mediator.
Innovations with the NX Platform
Equipped with Intellian’s new NX platform, these systems provide seamless network operation with high-speed bi-directional IP connectivity. Utilizing the Intellian Fiber Link Solution, antennas can interconnect without signal loss even over long distances. Additionally, the system employs a single cable to unify transmission (Tx), reception (Rx), and DC power, simplifying and reducing installation times.
Continued Technological Advancements
Eric Sung, CEO of Intellian, stated, “The industry-pioneering performance, simplified installation and ensured compatibility with future constellations and networks positions our new 1.5m antennas as one of the most innovative, flexible and cost-effective connectivity platforms available for diverse users on land and at sea.”
Besides the v150NX Ka, Intellian intends to introduce several new satellite communication technologies at Satellite 2019. These include the LP100, a man-portable, military-spec land terminal; the all-new GX100NX designed for use on the Global Xpress network; and the OW70, which is configured for LEO constellations.
