Northwave Cyber Security has announced a significant shift in its leadership dynamics as CEO Steven Dondorp transitions from day-to-day management duties after over two decades at the helm.
Remaining in the roles of Chief Executive Officer and Chair of the Board, Dondorp will concentrate on providing strategic oversight and leading the Board, as well as maintaining ownership of the company. The daily operations will be overseen by an enhanced executive leadership team, which now includes the President, CFO, and COO. Already established on the board are Northwave’s President Petra Oldengarm and CFO Sander Roosendaal, while COO Kevin Jonkers joins the board to further bolster operational leadership.
Executive Leadership Team
In the new structure, the roles traditionally managed by the CEO will be shared among the executive team:
- President – Responsible for business strategy and leading day-to-day activities.
- COO – Manages operational and daily business execution.
- CFO – Handles oversight, governance, and risk management.
This transition signifies Northwave's sustained growth and the natural development of its leadership framework as it broadens its influence and service offerings across Europe.
Broader Cyber Security Community
Petra Oldengarm, President, and Kevin Jonkers, COO, who joined Northwave in September and August 2025 respectively, are set to act as the firm's representatives to clients, partners, and the wider cyber security sector. CEO Steven Dondorp underlines the importance of this change as reflecting the robust leadership within the company, stating: “Over the past two decades, Northwave has grown into a trusted cyber security partner for organizations in Europe. That success is the result of the exceptional people we have built this company with.”
