Evolv Technology has joined forces with Major League Soccer's FC Dallas to enhance security measures at Toyota Stadium.
As the 2024 MLS regular season kicks off this month, the stadium will implement Evolv Express® systems to screen fans and staff at all entry points.
This upgrade is aimed at streamlining the admission process for over 19,000 attendees at the stadium.
Screening Technology Implementation
The transition to Evolv Express® from traditional metal detectors follows FC Dallas's observation of successful implementations at other MLS venues. The goal is to alleviate the entry bottlenecks and long lines typically associated with older screening methods.
Express utilizes sensor technology powered by artificial intelligence to differentiate between weapons and benign metal items carried by individuals.
Evolv Systems in Use
Installation of the Express systems at Toyota Stadium was completed in December, ahead of major events such as the Frisco Bowl and FCS National Championship. Nick Shafer, vice president of stadium operations for FC Dallas and Toyota Stadium, highlighted the strategic decision-making process.
“Increasingly, MLS decision makers – myself and my colleagues included – are strategizing about how to optimize the fan experience," said Shafer. "We had the opportunity to see the difference Evolv makes with the events in December, and we’re very excited to join other MLS and Texas teams that are using Express to enhance experience while upleveling safety.”
Growing List of Adopters
Since the debut of Express in 2019, Evolv has conducted screenings for over 1 billion people globally. FC Dallas's adoption of this technology adds Toyota Stadium to an expanding list of MLS facilities leveraging Evolv's solutions as part of their security protocols.
Other MLS teams like St. Louis CITY SC, the New England Revolution, and the Columbus Crew have also integrated Express.
Evolv's Texas Partnerships
Beyond MLS, Evolv has partnered with professional sports teams across Texas, including the Houston Astros (MLB), Houston Texans (NFL), and Houston Rockets (NBA).
Jay Muelhoefer, chief commercial officer for Evolv Technology, expressed satisfaction with the new partnership. “It is incredibly fulfilling to have another MLS team bring in Evolv,” explained Muelhoefer. “The fact that teams recognize how Evolv is transforming the fan experience at other stadiums in the league is a testament to how truly impactful the technology is. We’re excited to partner with FC Dallas and help create a safer, more fan-friendly environment for another Texas team.”
