The developers of The Cortile have successfully completed the installation of a comprehensive security system for their upcoming residential community located in Syracuse's Valley neighborhood.
This state-of-the-art system aims to safeguard residents, visitors, and property assets as the community prepares to lease its first building by the end of July 2026. The security features are spread over the entire 3.5-acre site, which will ultimately consist of four residential buildings housing a total of 140 apartments. While the initial building readies for leasing, construction and renovations are set to continue across the rest of the project.

Security was not an afterthought. It is a foundational element of the redevelopment of our property and an important component of managing risk and delivering the quality of life and safety that today’s renters expect.” The project has already contributed to a drop in petty crime and homelessness in the neighboring areas.

The security system is robust, featuring 250 CCTV cameras spread throughout the property to provide continuous surveillance, monitored by a professional security company.
The development also ensures a 24/7 onsite presence of a property manager to oversee security operations. Additionally, the parking facility is equipped with CCTV cameras utilizing license plate recognition, granting access solely to authorized tenant vehicles, while a six-foot perimeter fence enhances security measures surrounding the property.

The security measures include access fobs for Syracuse Police officers and three lockboxes with fobs for the Syracuse Fire Department’s use during their emergency responses.
Furthermore, the parking gate is integrated with a sensor system that opens automatically for responding emergency vehicles when sirens are activated. Backup power systems have been implemented to ensure uninterrupted operation of all security infrastructure during power outages while maintaining open access for emergency services. The development boasts an integrated smoke and carbon monoxide detection system that meets all code compliance requirements.
Community Features and Amenities
According to Hoffman, “By integrating emergency access, surveillance, and backup power into a unified system, we have created a property designed to remain operational and accessible when it matters most.” Upon full completion, The Cortile will offer a total of 62 one-bedroom, 71 two-bedroom, and seven three-bedroom apartments, all arranged around a landscaped central courtyard.
The apartments will offer luxury amenities, including gourmet kitchens with stone countertops, high-quality cabinetry, and professional-grade stainless steel appliances. Additional features will comprise private in-unit laundry facilities, deluxe bathrooms, a fitness center, and carefully designed communal gathering spaces.
