CCTV specialist Dedicated Micros - part of AD Group - has been announced as a finalist in two categories of The National Business Awards 2006, sponsored by Orange, and described by The Chancellor of the Exchequer as "the UK's business Oscars."

For The Orange Best Use of Technology in Business it was Dedicated Micros' groundbreaking TransVu Media mobile digital CCTV recording system, for buses and trains, which caught the eye of the first-round judges.  This allows operators to combine security and vehicle management with an ability to deliver travel information and advertising to passengers on the move.

Also in contention as a finalist, this time in the Business Innovation of the Year category, is the company's sophisticated MultiMode Recording capability incorporated in the market leading DS2 and DV-IP digital video recorders.  MultiMode enables smooth continuous recording on all cameras, previously uneconomical due to the high cost of storage.  MultiMode dynamically switches the resolution, quality, compression and frame rate of digital CCTV images - dependent on the level of activity in a scene - ensuring smooth motion video in the background and higher detail images for evidence when there is an incident.

Said Pauline Norstrom, Worldwide Head of Marketing at Dedicated Micros: "We are extremely pleased to have been chosen as finalists in both of the categories entered in this year's awards.  This underlies our track record of bringing to market innovative CCTV solutions and gives us the opportunity to fly the flag for the security sector against the best of British business, from multinationals to SMEs."

Commented Adrian Tripp, Chief Executive of The National Business Awards: "We've seen a remarkable number of entries this year and the quality has been outstanding.  With over 25 per cent of country's GDP represented in last year's Awards, it is evident that the British business community keenly welcomes this opportunity to celebrate their success and innovation.  This year's finalists exemplify the high achievements of British business and serve as exceptional role models from commerce and industry across the UK and beyond."

The winners will be announced at a glittering gala dinner, hosted by BBC TV's Fiona Bruce, at London's Grosvenor House Hotel on Tuesday 7 November.
