Customer

The Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club (KLGCC) is located in a lush hilltop setting in an affluent suburb of the city. The club hosts more than 100,000 rounds of golf a year and is the site of numerous international championships such as the Maybank Malaysian Open 2010 and the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia 2010. The club offers a choice of two 18-hole courses – the West Course, an international championship Par 72 course; and the East Course, a social, wetlands-themed Par 71 course with facilities for night golfing.

Challenge

The KLGCC security system needed better video image quality. The country club’s management wanted a system that would maintain resolution during live view and playback. In the case of outdoor applications, cameras needed to be protected from the elements. The customer was also seeking to keep costs low.

Megapixel Solution

Multiple camera models from Arecont Vision were used to provide video surveillance for the expansive facility, including 1.3 and 3 megapixel models that tie into a centrally monitored system.

The Arecont Vision Model AV1355 is a 1.3 megapixel MegaDome® H.264 network (IP) camera providing 1280x1024-pixel images at 32 frames per second. The camera uses H.264 (MPEG 4, Part 10) compression to minimize bandwidth and storage requirements while maintaining high-quality images. Additional capabilities that help further improve overall security coverage include motion detection, image cropping, region-of-interest viewing and forensic zooming.

The 3 megapixel model used at KLGCC is the Arecont Vision Model AV3105 Day/Night camera providing 2048x1536-pixel images at 15 frames per second and H.264 compression. Protecting outdoor cameras from the elements are Arecont Vision HSG1 environmental housings.

Megapixel Benefits

The video surveillance system incorporating megapixel cameras from Arecont Vision provides better image quality, greater system efficiencies and advanced functionality.

“Because megapixel imaging delivers significant improvements in image resolution and performance compared to standard-resolution cameras, an outdoor installation of this magnitude was a great fit for Arecont Vision,” said Becky Zhou, Asia Pacific Sales Director, Arecont Vision. “In addition to delivering lower bandwidth and storage requirements, Arecont Vision megapixel cameras dramatically decrease costs related to other elements of a system, such as fewer software licenses, fewer lenses, and a decrease in man-hours needed to bring it all together.”

Syed Baba bin Mohd Gous, Business Development Manager of Sensorlink, designed the job to take advantage of the flexibility of megapixel video. Sensorlink is a supplier and solutions provider of advanced total surveillance solutions for various industries.

“With such a challenging installation, Arecont Vision was our first choice for the KLGCC,” said Syed Baba bin Mohd Gous. “End-users have become very savvy when evaluating imaging technology. They come to the table with high expectations for high quality and low price points. Arecont Vision’s megapixel solutions meet these expectations and deliver the highest return on investment. The brand has become synonymous with superior imaging quality.”
