Intellian has finalized an agreement to provide user terminals for SES’s innovative O3b mPOWER communications system, following a fruitful co-development phase. The collaboration aims to enhance SES’s Ka-band Medium Earth Orbit (MEO) services, delivering low-latency, high-bandwidth connectivity to various sectors globally, with speeds spanning from tens of megabits to multiple gigabits per second. These enhanced services will be partly facilitated by Intellian’s terminals.

Intellian's Product Range

Under the multi-year agreement, Intellian will develop terminals ranging from 85cm to 2.4m, designed to exploit the full potential of SES’s second-generation MEO system. This extensive range of products offers scalable solutions for a wide array of sectors, including Government, Cruise, Energy, Maritime, Mining, and Telecommunications.

Strengthening the SES Partnership

Eric Sung, Intellian CEO, commented on the collaboration, highlighting their continued partnership with SES. "This agreement builds upon our long-standing partnership with SES, allowing us to deliver even more value and innovation to our combined customer base," Sung stated. The collaboration spans various sectors, including Cruise, Energy, and Government, and introduces opportunities in new land markets.

New Product Portfolio

As part of the product portfolio, Intellian will offer single, dual, and tri-band systems. These systems will enable seamless access to SES’s next-generation O3b mPOWER MEO service and its expansive fleet of over 70 satellites. Additionally, Intellian provides straightforward, cost-effective upgrade kits for current owners of their NX, v240M 2, and v240MT 2 antennas, facilitating a transition to the O3b mPOWER service.

O3b mPOWER Systems

Stewart Sanders, Executive Vice President of Technology and O3b mPOWER program manager at SES, affirmed, “This agreement will provide innovative and critical infrastructure for the O3b mPOWER systems and leverages many years of trusted partnership between our companies. Intellian has a track record of delivering for us and our customers, and we are proud to further extend our partnership with them.”

Meeting the Demand for Connectivity

The O3b mPOWER system is designed to cater to the increasing need for high-bandwidth, low-latency connectivity, propelled by the swift adoption of cloud computing and digital solutions across various global industries. SES’s new MEO satellite network, positioned at 8,000 km above Earth, will deliver high-capacity connectivity with minimal latency. Intellian's new range of terminals will be available in Q1 2022.
