STANLEY Security, a leading provider of security products, services and integrated solutions, donated $5,000 to support the efforts of the Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP) during the ASIS International 59th Annual Seminar and Exhibits (ASIS 2013) in Chicago, IL in September

As part of a broader initiative with the nonprofit organization by Stanley Black & Decker, STANLEY Security donated $1 to WWP for each visitor whose badge was scanned at the company’s booth throughout the three days of ASIS 2013, helping to support the WWP mission to honor and empower Wounded Warriors. In addition to individual $1 donations through badge scans, attendees who wished to donate more to WWP could do so by scanning a QR code provided at the booth. Any donation made through the QR code during the show was matched by STANLEY.

A significant donation to WWP at the show was given by Julie Hammonds, National Account Manager for STANLEY Security. Hammonds submitted a contribution of $505 in support of WWP, which was then matched by STANLEY for a total donation of $1,010. The money was collected by Hammonds’ family, who owns an event services business; all bartending tips collected at each event are donated to charity.

Hammonds and her family are very connected with WWP and its mission, and have a family member who is an alumnus of WWP.

“Because of this, we’ve been able to see and appreciate what WWP does for soldiers firsthand,” Hammonds said.

Hammonds and her family remain fierce champions for the organization’s cause, exhibited through the family’s event services business.

“We are an extremely patriotic family. In my family’s special events business, my dad is the DJ. No matter what the event is – whether it’s a wedding, class reunion, birthday party – he always plays the anthems for all the branches of service, and asks those who’ve fought for our freedoms to stand and be recognized when they hear their branch of service’s anthem played,” Hammonds said. “My brother-in-law also tends bar, and refuses to be paid for his time. He was the one who suggested putting out a tip jar to collect money for a charity.”

“When I learned that STANLEY had partnered with WWP and would match all donations made at ASIS, I decided it was the best use of the money we’d collected at events to give to WWP via the STANLEY partnership, doubling the value of our contribution,” she continued.

“Because of this, we’ve been able to see and appreciate what WWP does for soldiers firsthand”

WWP was created to raise awareness of the needs of injured service members, help injured service members to aid and assist each other and to provide unique programs and services to meet the needs of this generation of injured service members. Through its extensive partnership with WWP into 2014, STANLEY Security aims to honor the organization’s commitment to foster the most successful, well-adjusted generation of wounded service members in this nation’s history.

“We’re absolutely thrilled with Julie’s and all the visitors’ generosity in supporting this incredible organization throughout ASIS,” said Marty Guay, Vice President, Commercial – North America for STANLEY Security. “Throughout the show, we felt a sense of camaraderie and appreciation in this industry for WWP’s mission and for the many men and women who have and continue to serve our country. At STANLEY, we hope to maintain a lasting partnership with the WWP, and assist in any future endeavors.”
