Gibraltar Perimeter Security, a pioneer in the design and manufacturing of anti-ram vehicle barriers utilized around the world has announced its newest bollard product has received independent test laboratory certification to ASTM F2656-15 M40 P1 requirements.

The patent-pending G-1441 Ultra-Shallow Bollard was tested and certified at Calspan Corporation, an independent testing laboratory.

Penetration designation

The bollard system requires no rebar for installation and can be installed as shallow as 5-inches (127MM) in total depth.

The bollard withstood the impact of the 15,000 lbs. (7.5 ton) medium-duty truck at 40 MPH (64.4KPH) and received the P1 penetration designation for stopping the vehicle with less than 1 meter (3.28 ft) of penetration. While there are some products in the barrier industry as shallow as this one, there are few that can match the P1 penetration requirement at the M40 truck level.

Protection from vehicle intrusion

The ultra-shallow foundation design utilized by this bollard allows for flexibility in many places

The ultra-shallow foundation design utilized by this bollard allows for flexibility in many places which in the past have not been able to adequately protect their sites from vehicle intrusion at the speed and penetration rating necessary to do so.

Since the unit is only as deep as a standard sidewalk or curbs height of most cities it can be utilized in areas where subway utilities or obstructions are very shallow due to being put in place before modern building codes were utilized.

The bollard design also allows itself to be utilized as an option for bridge decks as more and more pedestrian and vehicle incidents are occurring where pedestrians become trapped with no protection from errant or purposely driven vehicles.

Easy installation

We are very excited to be able to offer an ultra-shallow option to clients who in the past did not really have an anti-ram solution for their site due to the depth issues that even traditional shallow bollards could not alleviate.”

The bollard is simple and easy to install with no rebar required for installation. We believe this product will have a large impact on our overall production and adds to our already large portfolio of barrier offerings”, says Joseph Hauss, President of Gibraltar Perimeter Security.

Products

Security bollards are a key component of Gibraltar’s product portfolio, which includes offerings of crash-certified fence systems, anti-ram gates, wedge barriers, portable and cellphone vehicle barriers, vertical lift barriers, and palisade security fence systems.

Gibraltar’s barriers can be found in both the US Department of State (DOS) and on the USACE Department of Defense (DOD) Barrier lists.
