AlliedBarton Security Services, the industry's premier provider of highly trained security personnel, will host a seminar on the Components of a Comprehensive Workplace Violence Preparedness Program on Wednesday, August 26, from 8 to 10:30 a.m. in the South Terraces located at 115 Perimeter Center Place, Atlanta.
Understanding Violent Minds
Paul Merritt, co-founder of Fortress Consulting, LLC, an Atlanta-based consulting firm that provides businesses with workplace violence prevention and response training, will share critical information on workplace violence preparedness. As a 23-year police officer, including 13 years as a SWAT team member in the Atlanta metro area, Merritt has safely resolved a number of high risk situations.
"We want to look at how you properly respond to armed Intruders, while keeping everyone in your workplace safe," said Merritt. "It comes down to notification, area denial, and facilitating police response, as well as testing your emergency response plans with reality-based training. Protecting against workplace violence takes a commitment from everyone, but especially management and leadership."
Bruce Blythe, an internationally acclaimed crisis management expert, will speak about understanding the violent mind and offer components for implementing a comprehensive violence preparedness program.
"Since we never know where hostilities will arise, the guidelines provided are applicable to work and personal settings," said Blythe. "Once you understand the common patterns of the violent mind, you will be in a better position to help influence it in a desirable direction."
Blythe is the owner and chairman of Crisis Management International, Inc., which provides employers with a continuum of crisis preparedness services. He is the author of Blindsided: A Manager's Guide to Crisis Leadership, as well as a certified clinical psychologist and a consultant to the FBI on workplace violence and terrorism.
