Surveillance technology is now even more compact with the launch of Cobham’s ultra small COFDM transmitter, the SOLO7 Nano Transmitter (Nano Tx), designed specifically for specialist video installations and body-worn applications. The same proven and trusted technology featured in Cobham’s range of larger COFDM transmitters has been packed into a tiny transmitter measuring only 58mm x 38mm x 17mm and weighing just 51g.

Ultra small yet highly capable, the Nano Tx is a low power, standard definition transmitter ideally suited for covert video hides, or applications requiring long term battery powered deployments, small unmanned aerial vehicles, and body-worn use. The Nano Tx employs ultra-low latency High Profile H.264 encoding for excellent image quality and supports both industry standard DVB-T modulation and a range of Cobham bandwidths - Narrowband (2.5 MHz), Ultra Narrowband (1.25 MHz) and Ultra-X (625 kHz). These narrowband modes allow users to share scarce spectrum allocation extremely efficiently or extend range without requiring additional power output, which increases the stand-off range for operators and improves safety during body worn applications. A HD version of the Nano Tx will be launched later in 2013.

“Cobham recognized the need in the military and law enforcement markets for high-quality, small form factor technology and developed the Nano transmitter to address this requirement,” says VP Cobham Tactical Communications and Surveillance, David Ashton. “The Nano Tx provides the latest Cobham technology in an extremely compact package – arguably the smallest currently available on the market.”

Equipped with integral COFDM modulation, the SOLO7 Nano transmitter is ideal for establishing rugged wireless video links in numerous environments, including mobile and urban. With the ability to switch between the highest quality and the most robust signal when conditions require, the Nano Tx is very well suited to all mission types.
