The Munich Security Conference was first held in 1963 and, over the last few decades, has become the most important conference in the world for foreign and security policy
Airbus with Stadtwerke München provided the technology to ensure safety of the high-ranking guests at the event

To ensure the safety of the approximately 400 high-ranking guests at this year’s Munich Security Conference from 31 January to 2 February, Airbus Defence and Space (formerly Cassidian) together with Tetra network operator Stadtwerke München provided the latest communications technology. Due to the increased security requirements, the Tetra system used by Stadtwerke München was assigned a higher security level and adapted to the particular conditions of the event.

Alongside the Tetra radio communication infrastructure of the Stadtwerke München, an additional TB3c base station was installed at the venue for the entire duration of the event and connected to the fail-safe and secure network of Stadtwerke München. Thanks to this technology, the security and conference personnel and the personnel from the Bundeswehr (German Armed Forces), who provided logistic support services, could securely communicate at all times within the entire conference zone inside and outside of the venue building. Because of the very positive reception from last year, the world’s smallest Tetra radio unit, the TH1n, was chosen as the terminal. Due to its very small size, it is particularly suitable for security forces during undercover operations.

The Munich Security Conference was first held in 1963 and, over the last few decades, has become the most important conference in the world for foreign and security policy. Each year, it provides high-ranking policy makers from all over the world with a forum for discussing current and future security challenges in depth. Numerous prominent political, business and media guests from Germany and abroad once again took part in this year’s conference.
