Aimetis Corp., a global leader in intelligent IP video management software, recently announced that The Electronic Power Board (EPB) of Chattanooga, TN, one of the largest publicly-owned providers of electric power in the United States is utilizing Aimetis Symphony to improve infrastructure security and operational efficiency.
A non-profit agency of the City of Chattanooga, EPB was established in 1935 for the sole purpose of providing electric power to the people of the greater Chattanooga area. Today, EPB is one of the largest publicly-owned providers of electric power in the country. Serving more than 169,000 residents in a 600 square-mile area that includes greater Chattanooga, as well as parts of surrounding counties (small parts of Bledsoe, Bradley, Marion, Rhea and Sequatchie) and areas of North Georgia (portions of Catoosa, Dade and Walker).
The Electronic Power Board required an open architecture video management solution that was able to integrate with their original investment while offering improved functionality and system reliability. The previous security system did not provide the functionality needed to correctly leverage the camera features. This lack of infrastructure security led to an increasing amount of property trespassing, leading to a significant increase in copper theft.
Aimetis Symphony was selected as the software of choice due to robust video analytics and the open architecture system. The system monitoring, analyzing and reporting throughout the entire building, immediately improves security and enhances the management of core operational processes.

The EPB has future plans to increase the number of cameras and Aimetis Symphony licenses as it continues its evaluation of the current security measures in place. In the future, additional EPB facilities and substations will continue to require security upgrades.
