The result is that Product Builder 8 is now the definitive method for any distributor or installer looking to create both door entry and access control systems in any format, from the simplest to the most complicated. The user can now create a professional, detailed estimate from just one program. This will allow a customer’s estimate to be turned round much faster, and with more details, than ever before.
The most important feature of Product Builder 8 is that it allows the creation of a door entry or access control system from the same CD. No prior knowledge of Videx products or systems is required. Using a simple five-step wizard, users are guided through the creation of a system that can include not only products from the traditional Videx product range, but also the latest VX2200 & VX2300 systems, kits, GSM and access control products.
Another key feature of Product Builder 8 is that it provides the user with a choice of possible solutions from which he can select options based on cost, preferred products and system functionality. This provides exactly the flexibility that users want so that they can customize the system exactly to their clients’ requirements. A block diagram is also automatically created from the selected Videx products and shows the number of wire/cores required for the system and the recommended cable types.
Once the component parts of the system have been selected, the user can click on the parts listing to call up product data sheets and photographs as well as trade prices. These can then be adjusted as required to form the final quote to the customer. Printed estimates can be generated including large format photographs and a description of each Videx product. A very valuable feature of Product Builder 8 is that the parts list can be exported as a handy CSV file so it can be integrated with third party software.
To create a highly professional estimate, all printouts can be customised with the distributor’s or installer’s company logos and contact information. A “save” feature allows a previous estimate to be revisited and if necessary amended.
Product Builder 8 also provides an on screen preview of each modular Door Entry panel that has been selected. Users can customize the modular door panel layout and see exactly how it looks, judging its suitability for a specific application. A new feature allows the ability to add engraving details and name plate insert text. Name plate cards can also be printed from with Product Builder 8 which can be inserted into the panels to give a very professional finish to the installation.
