Recently at ASIS 2013, Securitron, an ASSA ABLOY Group company, is presenting its new R100 Surface Mounted Wireless Reader with Aperio® technology. Capable of mounting on glass, stone, granite or marble entryways, the R100 significantly extends the reach and application of access control, when paired with a variety of hard-wired electromagnetic or electric locking devices.

“The R100 is an aesthetically appealing option for those who wish to add access control to a glass or marble door,” said Wendy Bowman, Director of Marketing, EMS & OEM Group, ASSA ABLOY. “Glass doors are becoming more and more popular as designers and architects are finding both environmental and cost-saving benefits over other materials, so we’ve been developing a product to give these entryways robust access control, while maintaining a clean, wireless appearance.”

Installing the R100 requires no drilling or pulling of wires to the door and can adhere in a few minutes. The installation is further simplified with Aperio, which wirelessly links the R100 to a new or existing access control system. The R100 is fully potted to operate in a wide range of outdoor temperatures, protected from moisture, heat and cold.

The R100 wirelessly transmits credentials for request to entry in real time and uses a convenient, single-card system that can be used with existing ID badges. The R100 reader is available in two frequency models, each supporting a range of technologies and is compatible with NFC smartphones via Seos.
