Smiths Detection will maintain X-ray cargo scanners deployed by U.S. Customs and Border Protection

Smiths Detection recently announced a $14.1 million order from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) for supplies, parts and services to maintain X-ray cargo scanners deployed by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).

The maintenance will be performed on HCVM and HCVG scanners, high energy systems that screen vehicles and freight for explosives and contraband at ports and border crossings. The order will help ensure CBP screening remains continuously operational.

Terry Gibson, Smiths Detection’s Vice President of Global Service, said: “We are considered a world leader in threat detection technologies due in part to our belief in providing long-term value through exceptional service. This dedication to meeting operational needs and ensuring our technology functions at peak performance helps our customers protect travelers across the U.S and the entire world.”

The order includes: program management services, configuration management, warranty transitions, preventative and corrective maintenance, and X-ray systems.

It is part of an Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract with a total value of up to $62.5 million.
