US DHS provide exclusive sessions at SMi’s 11th annual Border Security conference which will take place on 21-22 February 2018 in Rome, Italy. SMi Group is proud to announce the participation of two expert representatives from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security speaking at the 11th Border Security conference in Rome next February.

With a focus on biometric technology and capabilities, our expert speakers will be presenting exclusive sessions on Day 1.

Biometric Strategies In Immigration

Lee Bowes, Acting Deputy Associate Director, Immigration Records and Identity Services Directorate, US Citizenship and Immigration Services, will provide an update on biometric Strategies in immigration. He will explore how the US DHS is enhancing identity management practices through expanded biometric usage, as well as replacing transactional processes with upfront enrollment and subsequent verification.

Next-Generation Security Recognition System

Patrick Nemeth, Director of Identity Operations Division, Office of Biometric Identity Management, will provide a session on how to deploy a next-generation security recognition system. This timely presentation will bring updates in the Homeland Advanced Recognition Technology Program, as well as new modularity specifications and multi-module capabilities.

Illegal Immigration Management

This comes at a relevant time as recently, in a push against illegal immigration, U.S. lawmakers are set to debate a proposal to install fences and a biometric entry-exit system to secure USA borders at all air, land and sea ports of entry within five years after being approved by the House Homeland Security Committee.

Border Security 2018 will feature a speaker line-up of international senior border security experts who will discuss political and technological solutions being utilised to secure national borders. Featured speakers also include representatives from Italian Navy, Australian Department of Immigration and Border Control, Portuguese Maritime Authority and Ministry of Defense, Swedish National Bureau of Investigation, Borders and Immigration UK, Delegation of the European Union to Turkey, Schiphol Airport, Airpol and more.
