Genetec Acquires Sipelia To Expand Its Custom Solutions Development Capabilities

Genetec, a pioneer in the physical security industry and a provider of world-class IP security solutions, announced the expansion of its custom solutions development team with the acquisition of Sipelia.

Sipelia is a privately-held software company based in Paris, France, that specializes in the development of custom software solutions. Sipelia's co-founders will play pivotal roles in Genetec's Professional Services offered to channel partners. Specifically, Jose Breval will lead the development and management of the worldwide custom solutions team for Genetec. Remi Breval will lead the development efforts on Plan Manager, an interactive map-based command and control application built by Sipelia for use with Genetec's IP video surveillance system, Omnicast, using the Omnicast software development kit (SDK). Remi will also lead other future products and add-on modules with the new Paris team.

"We intend that these activities of Sipelia become an integral part of Genetec's business," says Pierre Racz, Genetec's CEO. "With this acquisition, Genetec significantly expands its customs solutions capability and acquires one of the best applications ever built using the Omnicast SDK."

Sipelia's Plan Manager has gained recognition in the physical security industry, already being installed in international sports stadium, airports and cities, amongst other places. In a stadium application, for example, operators use an interactive map of the stadium layout to select a seat. Instantly, the closest cameras will pan, tilt and zoom to the requested seat and the videos will be displayed.

Currently, the Plan Manager application is offered to Genetec customers as an add-on module within Omnicast. Full integration within Genetec's unified security platform, the Security Centre, is planned to coincide with the release of Security Center 5.0.
