The seventh edition of Counter Terror Expo (CTX) will see over 300 exhibitors ranging from international companies to SMEs presenting their latest technologies and equipment for the law enforcement and security sectors. Visitors from over 100 countries are expected to attend the event which is being staged at Olympia, London from 21-22 April 2015. 

In addition to showcasing the latest capabilities, CTX has also become recognized as an influential and authoritative forum for examining current terrorist threats and their mitigation. The CTX conference is split into four streams: World Counter Terror Congress, Cyber Threat Intelligence, Critical National Infrastructure and Transport Security Live. 

Recognized Experts To Debate Threats, Define Operational Strategies

Nearly 200 internationally recognized experts in counter terrorism will gather at the World Counter Terror Congress to debate threats, define operational strategies and to help shape future policy. Speakers include Mark Rowley, Head of Specialist Operations and Assistant Commissioner, Metropolitan Police; Brooke Rogers, Reader in Risk & Terror, King's College London; George Trebess, National Counter Terrorism Policing Headquarters; and Jonathan Powell, CEO, Inter-Mediate and the British Government's chief negotiator on Northern Ireland peace agreement. 

Issues under the spotlight include a Metropolitan Police perspective on terrorism, extremism and the home-grown threat. There will also be focus on understanding and dealing with threats from the Middle East and returnees from conflicts in the region. Mitigation strategies for fourth wave terrorists is the subject of a dedicated session which will include the role of UAVs and why, how and when to negotiate with terrorists. 

 Cyber Threat Intelligence Conference – Prevention For Cyber Terrorism Or Cyber-crime

The Cyber Threat Intelligence conference brings together all those who must prevent or prepare for cyber terrorism or cyber-crime. Speakers include David Raw, Deputy Director, Director, Office of Cyber Security & Information Assurance (OCSIA) whose subject is the UK's cyber security strategy; Andy Archibald, Deputy Director, National Cyber Crime Unit, National Crime Agency giving the UK perspective on responding to cybercrime; and Steve Durbin, Managing Director, Information Security Forum, providing a vision of the future cyber security threats to business.

Critical National Infrastructure – Protection Of Critical Energy Infrastructure

Today's Critical National Infrastructure conference stream features a presentation by Thomas Wuchte, Head on Anti-Terrorism Issues, Transnational Threats Department, Organization for Security & Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) on international efforts in protecting critical energy infrastructure from terrorist attacks. Protecting major events and crowded places will be discussed by Alex Eytan B.Arch I.Eng MICE PMP, Member of the Register of Security Engineers and Specialists, Managing Partner, Enspire Solutions Limited. Martin Hendy, Chief Superintendent, Aviation Security, Metropolitan Police Service.

 Transport Security Live - Provide Guide To Best Practice In Transport Security

The Transport Security Live conference involves key stakeholders from UK and international governments and security organizations, aviation, rail, secure transport, supply chain and major events sectors to provide a guide to best practice in transport security. Highlights today include a keynote address by Martin Jones, Head of Aviation Security, Department for Transport, on the UK's transport security strategy. In a dedicated session Peter Drissell, Director of Aviation Security, UK Civil Aviation Authority, will give a paper entitled, 'Protect Assurance and Accountability: the future of UK Aviation Security'.

A significant new development on the exhibition floor is the introduction of zones dedicated to crucial areas of security capability. They are: Policing & Special Operations; Advanced Technologies; Critical National Infrastructure and Cyber Threat Intelligence. The capabilities on display in the hall include the latest IED detection, protection, robotic and disposal solutions, advances in systems for facial recognition, geospatial data analysis, screening post for explosives, mobile computing, mobile communications and thermal imaging are all on show; together with innovations in CBRN vaccine and decontaminants, interactive mapping, nanotech development and infrared surveillance.
